Art in the Gardens Show

Garden Bluffs 9 x 12 oil

You are invited to join us Friday, August 21, 2026 from 4 pm to 7 pm for the opening reception for the Sheboygan Visual Artists’ new exhibit Art in the Garden. I have a painting “Garden Bluffs” on exhibit. Sheboygan Visual Artists has a new location at 534 South Pier Drive, Sheboygan. It is next door to Inklings Used Books and east of Anglers Pub and Grill.

My wife Jane has a photograph A Place to Rest in the exhibition.

My wife Jane has this photograph on exhibit. I want to share her story about the photograph: I came to Christopher Farm and Gardens on the Friday prior to the Paint Out looking for something to paint. As soon as I saw the Rabbit with his lap as a seat surrounded by colorful flowers, I was inspired to paint it. I thought, “I can paint this!” On Sunday, the rain date for the Paint Out, I was struggling to move all my gear to the Rabbit, plus I could not remember how to get to the place where the Rabbit was located. Mr. Jay Christopher happened to be driving by in his vehicle, so I asked him if he would give me a lift. He graciously let me load up my gear and drove me to the site. What a blessing! The Rabbit is located along the path to Lake Michigan just past the Chicken Coop. After I painted for an hour, I still could not capture the Rabbit’s cute face. I became frustrated and stopped painting. I thought for a while and decided to submit a photograph instead of a painting.

Art in the Garden will be on exhibit until Saturday, September 19.

Gallery hours are Wednesday to Sunday 11 am to 4 pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

The Art of Friends and Family

Join my wife Jane and I in celebrating the Art of Friends and Family at EBCO Artworks, 1201 Erie Avenue, Sheboygan. The exhibit will be up until February 10, 2019.

My painting Wave Rider was from a photograph I took this January when Lake Michigan waves were high and rough. Surfers from as far as Chicago were surfing this day, but I noticed this kayaker having fun in the frigid surf near the Sheboygan’s North Pier.

Jane’s photograph Lily Pads was taken at Kettle Moraine Lake while we were kayaking. The lily pads reminded her of the lily pads in Monet’s garden ponds in Giverny, France.

The Opening Reception is on Friday, January 25 from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Admission is free. Live entertainment. Aaron Schwoerer will play classic hits from Beatles to Led Zeppelin. Complimentary refreshments. Cash bar.

Gallery hours Saturday and Sunday 11 am – 3 pm.
